The Early Head Start (EHS) program recently hosted its annual “Dad’s” Resource Fair. The event was designed to provide information about social services and job opportunities for members of the EHS community. Despite its title, the Fair welcomed all dads and other male figures that play an important role in the lives of children in the program.
Providers from across the region attended including the Laborers’ District Council, Philabundance, Catholic Community Services and PA Career Link.
“The representatives were all incredibly engaging and very energetic in the way they motivated the participants to take advantage of the opportunities available to them. The providers shared their own personal stories and words of encouragement to help build the confidence of those in attendance” said Lisbel Madera, the EHS family community involvement specialist.
Attendees were able to spend one-on-one time with each provider to receive available resources, materials and have their questions answered. Participants were encouraged to submit resumes for jobs at the fair.
Madera added “One of the dads in attendance was able to submit a resume to a provider and hopes to hear back from them soon; so best of luck to him.”
