The Health Federation of Philadelphia (HFP) is pleased to announce that its Affordable Care Act Outreach and Enrollment program has been renewed for the 2018-2019 year. As a subgrantee of the Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers (PACHC), HFP Health Insurance Navigator staff will continue to provide education and enrollment assistance to individuals in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties who need help enrolling in and understanding insurance coverage.
The program – which originally kicked off in October 2013 – is now in its 6th year, and just completed a 3-year funding cycle. The new grant period is a one-year cycle and will run through mid-September 2019. Navigator Hannah Kamara, who has worked in her role since December 2013 shared, “We’re excited to continue serving the people of Philadelphia.” As in past years, HFP’s team plans to have hours both on-site at HFP’s Center City office, as well as off-site at City health centers across Philadelphia, the Community College of Philadelphia, and other locations.
Through the years, HFP navigators and enrollment assisters have helped over 10,000 individuals in Philadelphia and its surrounding counties to understand the Affordable Care Act insurance programs, and have enrolled more than one thousand people in coverage. HFP’s navigators are mainly based in Philadelphia’s City Health Centers, where they help both patients and the general public. The team also works with the Community College of Philadelphia and other local organizations to reach uninsured individuals who quality for Medical Assistance or subsidies on the Health Insurance Marketplace. Our Navigators have assisted consumers speaking more than 25 different languages, and most individuals are under 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Open enrollment begins November 1 and ends December 15. For assistance, please contact HFP’s navigators at 215-977-7255 or by email at navigator@healthfederation.org.
